Will turning off auto syncing protect us from the "empty Amazon Cloud Drive" problem?

In reference to the “empty Amazon Cloud Drive” problem, will changing the auto sync setting to NOTHING protect us from future incidents with Amazon Cloud Drive sending odrive the “empty” signal?

That setting will not affect remote reflection. odrive is built to reflect change on the remote side to your local system, so there isn’t a way to stop this. We are looking at what safeguards can be put in place to mitigate the effect, however.
