Right click on Path Finder (Mac OS X)

Is the right click context menu only available on Finder?

I use Path Finder exclusively on my Mac, so would definitely welcome it if the feature could be extended to Path Finder too.

Otherwise, is there a way to unsync or share links without right-clicking on Path Finder?

Hi,
The context menus are done via OS X’s extensions framework. Unless PathFinder can make use of those, it most likely is not possible.

As an alternative, you could use the odrive CLI to create custom context menu options, which I believe PathFinder supports.

Is there another way besides context menus to toggle individual file/folder syncing?

Maybe a web interface or something?

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in responding to this one. This seems to be a day I missed some things. The odrive CLI can be used to toggle syncing of files and folders. Did you take a look at that?

I took a look at that but wasn’t certain how it could be integrated into Path Finder.

Does odrive have a contextual menu plugin that I could drop into the /Library/Contextual Menu Items folder? That should do the trick.

Our context menus are coded against the OS X framework, so I don’t think there is anything that can be taken from that and put into PathFinder.

You can take a look at this post, which was written to help support older versions of OS X. The service items there may be of use to you in PathFinder

The link to download the installation file is not working. can you fix it?

Hi @leiboavi ,

I’ve updated that post. You can find the Agent/CLI info here: Agent/CLI (Linux, MacOS, Win)

EDIT:

Reading this again, you may be talking about the service scripts from long ago? Are you wanting to use these with PathFinder?

I want the script link which is not working anymore

Hi @leiboavi ,

We no longer have those scripts (they were unofficial and not maintained or tested in the last 8-9 years).

Can you tell me what you were wanting to accomplish with them?

I would like to have the options for syncing and unsyncing files in the Finder contextual menu, so I can access them even when using alternative Finder programs. I recall that these options were available there, but they seem to have disappeared.

Hi @leiboavi ,
If you go to System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions → File Providers (under Extensions section) and click on the “i” inside the circle, do you see the odriveapp extension listed, and is it enabled?

Have you tried installing the latest version from here? Set Up Your odrive

I’ve installed the latest version of the odrive. When I use Finder and press the right button, I can see all the options for odrive. However, when I look under the Services menu, there’s nothing from odrive. I used to use this Services menu to access odrive options when I used alternative Finder programs, but now it’s not there. Even when I try to edit the Services menu from the System Settings, odrive isn’t appearing there for me to choose from.

Hi @leiboavi ,

Here is a new set of services you can install to provide sync, unsync, and refresh from the “Services” menu. Give it a shot.

To install:

  1. Download the zip file from here
  2. Extract the zip file
  3. Open Terminal
  4. Navigate to the extracted folder:
  5. cd ~/Downloads/odrive-macos-services (or wherever you extracted it)
  6. Run the installer: ./install_services.sh

Thank you for making this tool,

Thanks, now, I can see the odrive options under the contextual menu of Finder, but these options are not displayed when using Pathfinder. I also attempted to customize the contextual menu of Pathfinder, but I couldn’t resolve the issue. I don’t believe there’s anything wrong with your tool; I think it’s likely a problem with the Pathfinder app.

Hi @leiboavi ,

I updated the .zip bundle. Download the new version and see if that behaves better with PathFinder.

Perfect! It works!

Thank you so much!
