Notify user of updates reliably by having an alert in the menu

I’ve missed out on several potentially useful updates, because I wasn’t always following the forum digest.

It would be nice to have an update notification in the right-click menu.

A bonus feature would be to present a window that lists what the benefits of updating are, as the download is pretty large and will take a while when sync is in progress.

We plan up enhance the update mechanism to provide better visibility into client changes.

For now you can set your preferences for notifications on the Release Notes and Announcements categories to provide you e-mail updates of new threads.
