I realize this is an old post, but I’m hoping I can still get a reply.

If I’ve linked my Facebook account with odrive, and I have my photos now on odrive, will they remain on odrive if I cancel and delete my Facebook account,?

Hi @jpwelle,
I haven’t tested the Facebook behavior in this case in a long time. It is likely that odrive will try to contact Facebook after you close your Facebook account, be unable to (produce and error or request a re-login), and then just sit there, unable to do anything. Its a little messy, though, and I wouldn’t want to risk a chance that Facebook responds with something we aren’t expecting and odrive interprets their response as a remote delete of the content. In that case odrive will then sync the changes, and throw all of your files into the OS recycle bin/trash.

I think the best course of action would be to:

  • Copy that Facebook folder to a secure location after all of the photos have been downloaded
    or
  • Copy the Facebook folder into another linked cloud storage so that your photos and videos can be uploaded for safe-keeping.

Once you’ve copied them to another location/backed them up you can unlink the Facebook storage link from your odrive account.
