I’m not sure what information is relevant, but basically, after running a sync on the top-level google drive directory the resulting files and folders on disk are missing many folders and files. There’s no indication of failed syncing or of a folder to be synced that hasn’t been-- it’s just not there in many cases.
What information is relevant here, how should I debug this?

In most cases this is caused by the files/folders having characters that cannot be used on the local operating system. Take a look at this post for more details and see if this might be the case for you:
