Hi odrive crew,

Here’s another desktop sync update with Backup improvements and other goodies.

Win v.6694 / Mac v.6791:

  • Better illegal character handling. Allows odrive to display files which exist on remote storage but may have characters that are not allowed by the OS on your local computer.
    • Characters that are not allowed on the local system will be converted to unicode equivalents
      • : = ： (\uFF1A)
      • / = ／ (\uFF0F)
      • \ = ＼ (\uFF3C)
      • * = ＊ (\uFF0A)
      • ? = ？ (\uFF1F)
      • " = ＂ (\uFF02)
      • < = ＜ (\uFF1C)
      • > = ＞ (\uFF1E)
      • | = ｜ (\uFF5C)
      • Leading and trailing spaces = (\u2007)
      • Trailing . = ． (\uFF0E)

  • Backup improvements:
    • Setup UX adjustments, including upfront verification of backup destination and a warning when backupSupportMerge is true and your destination is not empty.
    • Logging fixes and error handling improvements.
  • Desktop notifications improvement for new items going into the Not Allowed list.
  • OneDrive for Business logging (msbusiness.log), throttling tweaks, and other fixes.
  • Mac UI dark mode fix.
