Account neccessary for free usage?

Hello,

i was looking for a Tool for making a RPi to a file-sync-Server to cloudstorage.
So i found odrive.

Can I use odrive without an odrive-account?
Because odrive is not opensource and odrive is also located in the US, does the odrive agent or the odrive client connect to servers beside the Cloud-Storage-Providers, f. ex. odrive, government, administration, etc.?

You will need an odrive account to use odrive.
