Odrive pegging my CPU

odrive is pegging my CPU on Mac… what’s going on?

Hi Kurt,
Can you provide a few more details on your setup?

Do you see anything listed in the odrive tray menu under syncing, waiting, or not allowed?
What do you have linked?
Do you have any "sync to odrive folders? If so, how large of a data structure is being monitored?
Can you walk me through what you have done and are currently doing with odrive?
Can you submit a diagnostic from the odrive tray menu?

Thanks!

I submitted a diagnostic.

10 items syncing
4 items waiting
3 items not-allowed.

What is a “sync to odrive folder” ?

Hi,
A “sync to odrive” folder is a folder that is outside of odrive that you have chosen to “sync to odrive”. It looks like you did this with your Pictures folder, which has lots and lots of files and folders in it. During a bulk import of this size (on the order tens to hundreds of thousands of files) , you can expect heavy CPU utilization as it deals with all of the content and syncs it all up.

My recommendation is to let it do its thing and try not to interact with the folder it is syncing while the massive import is taking place. Closing any open Finder windows may help with resource utilization, as well.

I’m noticing a lot of these threads don’t have resolutions. I too have this problem and am hoping you have a timeline for fixing it.

We’ve got some dual threadage here, so I will point this one over to the other:
